Balasore Police Clarify: No Night Curfew In Town, Only Early Shop Closures

Bhubaneswar: Police have clarified that there is no night curfew in Balasore city, contrary to reports by some media outlets. Instead, guidelines have been issued for the early closure of shops and commercial establishments in the town.

“Contrary to some media reports, no night curfew has been imposed in Balasore district. In fact, guidelines have been issued so that shops do not remain open at late night hours,” Balasore SP posted on X.

As per the directive issued by the Collector, all shops within the Balasore Municipality and town area are required to close by 10 PM daily from October 6 to October 21, 2025. The decision aims to prevent potential law-and-order disturbances due to large gatherings that often occur when shops remain open late into the night, sometimes up to 1 AM.

The Collector has instructed the Superintendent of Police to ensure strict patrolling in the town area to maintain peace and order during the festive season. The police are taking precautions to prevent any untoward incidents
