Balasore: The district police have seized brown sugar worth Rs 27 lakh during a raid at two locations in Jaleswar on Friday morning. Three persons have been arrested in this connection.
The raid was carried out near Badabazar chowk in Jaleswar based on a tip-off about the transportation of drugs. A 33-year-old man, riding a two-wheeler, was caught in possession of drugs weighing about 17 grams.
In another raid near Nuabazar railway crossing, drugs weighing 256 grams was seized from the possession of two youths. The three persons have been booked in two separate cases under the NDPS Act.
Under the ‘Zero drug tolerance’ policy of Balasore police, seven persons have been arrested in five different cases in less than a month. Approximately 645 grams of brown sugar estimated at Rs 65 lakh has been seized, the district police headquarters informed.
