Balasore: The situation in the violence-hit Balasore is under control and mostly peaceful, said DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi after holding a review meeting with the top police officers and administrative officials.

“Currently, 45 platoons of the state police, 3 companies of BSF are deployed and three more companies of BSF will join the operation soon. The situation is under control. We relaxed the curfew for four hours. There was no untoward incident during relaxation time. The curfew will also be relaxed for six hours tomorrow from 6 am to 12 noon,” DGP said.

The static surveillance teams are moving along with patrolling teams in the municipality area, he added.

All are requested to maintain peace and tranquillity.

Any violent creator will be strictly dealt with, DGP added.

The curfew is still in force. We expect normalcy to restore soon, Sarangi maintained.

The curfew was imposed in the Balasore Municipality after a violent clash between two communities over an allegation of cow slaughter.
