Bhubaneswar: Acting on a tip-off on the peddling and transportation of brown sugar by two men, Jaleswar police in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday conducted NDPS raids at Rajpur village and apprehended two accused aged about 21 years and 32 years.
The police also seized 260 gm of brown sugar worth Rs 26 lakh and other articles including two mobile phones, one two-wheeler, and cash worth Rs 31,125, from their possession.
According to the police, one of the accused is from Rajpur village under Jaleswar police limits, while the other hails from Aradbazar village under Sahadevkhunta police limits in Balasore district.
One of the arrested accused is said to be the right-hand man of an infamous brown sugar peddler. The police succeeded in nabbing him after a chase of two months.
