Bhubaneswar: Baliguda block in Odisha’s Kandhamal district received the highest rainfall of 135 mm in the last 24 hours in the state while the average rainfall recorded in Odisha during the period was 14.1 mm, the India Meteorology Department (IMD) here said on Sunday.
The state recorded an average rainfall of 308.7 mm from July 1 to July 30 against the July monthly average of 339.9 mm
Nine blocks in the state recorded more than 100 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours and they are Attabira in Bargarh district (124.4 mm), Laikera in Jharsuguda district (103.4 mm), Baliguda in Kandhamal district (135.0 mm), Tumudibandh and Phiringia in Kandhamal district (128.0 mm & 105.4 mm respectively), Jujumura, Bamra and Rengali in Sambalpur district (120.0 mm, 114.4 mm, and 105.4 mm respectively) and Sundargarh in Sundargarh district (112.2 mm).
During the period, 12 districts received deficient rain, two in excess and the remaining 16 districts were in the normal category.
