Kendrapara: A day ahead of counting of votes of the Panchayat elections in Odisha, many ballot papers were found scattered outside the strong room on the premises of Kendrapara college in the district on Friday.
Reportedly, ballot boxes of 27 panchayats of Kendrapara block are stored in the strong room. After finding the ballot papers scattered outside the strong room, voters of several panchayats approached the election officer.
On getting information, Kendrapara Sub-Collector Niranjan Behera, BDO Bandana Khatua, and other officials rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
After inspection, Behera said that they appear to be dummy ballot papers used by candidates to educate the voters. However, the local BDO and Tehsildar have been asked to verify the ballot papers.
