Puri: Darshan of the Holy Trinity in Puri Jagannath Temple will be suspended for four hours from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm on the occasion of Banakalagi ritual on Thursday.

Worth mentioning, the Banakalagi ritual is a secret ritual of the deities also known as ‘Srimukha Sringara’. During the rituals the Datta Mahapatra servitors will apply fresh colours on the idols of the deities with an objective of restoring their original look.

The ‘Banaka’ is prepared from different types of natural colours like hingula (yellow), haritala (red), kasturi, keshar and kaintha and applied to the idols. The Banakalagi ritual will begin after the completion of all the other rituals and the second Bhoga Mandap of Mahaprabhu.
