Bhubaneswar: Eminent painter, 94-year-old Banshidhar Pratihari has been chosen for the prestigious Dharmapada Award for 2022 by the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department of Odisha government.
Dharmapada Award is the highest award given by the Odisha government to an individual for his lifetime achievement and contribution to the enrichment of painting and sculpture.
The award carries a cash prize of ₹5 lakh, a citation and a shawl.
The Akademi also announced to felicitate Brajabandhu Mishra, renowned sculpture and painter; palm leaf engraving artist; Laxmidhar Subudhi, pattachitra artist Bhramarabar Naik; painter Ramesh Kumar Behera; and eminent stone sculptor Keshav Chandra Maharana.
The artists chosen for felicitation will be honoured with a cash prize of ₹ One lakh, a citation, a copper plaque and a shawl each.
The artists will be honoured and felicitated at a function to be held at the conference hall of Sanskruti Bhawan at 11 AM on February 6.
