Barabati-Cuttack MLA Has Rose Valley Chit Fund Link: Congress
**Bhubaneswar: ** Amid the political hullabaloo in the backdrop of arrests of two Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) pertaining to its ongoing probe into the multi-crore Rose Valley chit fund scam, mudslinging by political parties have taken the centre stage at the Odisha capital city here.
On Thursday, Cuttack City Congress Committee president and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) treasurer Mohammed Moquim alleged that Barbati-Cuttack MLA (BJD) Debasis Samantray has links with Rose Valley group owner Goutam Kundu.
“Cuttack-Barabati MLA Debasis Samantray has got links with ASTHA and his driver owns Mercedes car. This matter was hushed up. Rose Valley chief Goutam Kundu had met the Chief Minister accompanied by the MLA. We’re ignorant of the reason behind such a meeting. If the ongoing Rose Valley investigation by CBI delves into it, it would unmask the ruling BJD leaders. We strongly demand that the CBI should sincerely look at that angle and the concerned MLA should also be grilled,” Mohammed Moquim told media on Thursday at the Congress Bhawan here.
Similarly, Odisha BJP vice-president Sameer Mohanty at a press meet on the day said, “Who is the MLA of Cuttack district for having planned along with Rose Valley chief Goutam Kundu to open media house at Mancheswar here and accordingly had been in quest of a house on rent there? Who are the Ministers for having arranged the meeting of Kundu with the Chief Minister here? Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demands that the ruling BJD should disclose it.”
On the contrary, Barabati-Cuttack MLA Debasis Samantray retorted, “Mohammed Moquim is a criminal. Case is sub judice against him. His passport has been compounded by the High Court. He has siphoned off approximately Rs 200 crore from the OHRDC. If he has evidence against me, let him lay bare. I’ll see how much guts does the Congress party has. I don’t know who Goutam Kundu is. Whatever the BJP says, is it all true?”
