Bhubaneswar: The newly constructed Baramunda Bus Terminal will be named after the father of the Indian Constitution and the great exponent of social justice Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.

It was announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while paying deep tribute to Dr Ambedkar. The Baramunda Bus Stand will be known as Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bus Terminal.

The Chief Minister said that Dr. Ambedkar was a visionary leader and a dedicated social reformer. He was the light of hope for the downtrodden. He spent his entire life to build a just society.

A special 900 square feet gallery will be constructed at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Bus Terminal to make the public aware of his great contribution and ideals in nation-building.

Ambedkar’s biography and ideals will be beautifully presented through the use of digital technology. A copy of the Indian Constitution along with various articles used by Baba Saheb will also be displayed here.

Built on 15.5 acres of land, the bus stand will be the prime means of transportation for 30,000 passengers per day.

In view of this, various facilities have been developed for the convenience of the passengers. Special attention has also been given to the safety of passengers.
