Cuttack: Barang police under Cuttack Urban Police District (UPD) on Friday arrested a gang of chain snatchers.
The accused persons have been identified as Abdul Qadir, Sk Sunu Ali and P Jaga Rao. Police have seized a gold chain, Rs 4,900 in cash, a motorcycle and a mobile phone from their possession. Police said the accused persons have more than 10 cases against their names in various police stations.
According to IIC of Barang police station Biswaranjan Nayak, on 12th July while a woman was returning home from Barang some miscreants snatched her gold chain near Phula Pokhari. The victim lodged a written complaint at Barang police station in this regard. Based on the complaint police launched an investigation into the incident and were able to arrest the miscreants after examining CCTV footage of various locations.
