Bargarh: The Bargarh District Excise Department achieved a significant breakthrough on Thursday morning, intercepting a large consignment of cough syrup while being illegally transported from Bhubaneswar to Bargarh in a pickup van.
Acting on a tip-off, the excise team conducted a raid at Ekamra Square on the outskirts of the city, seizing 5,400 bottles of cough syrup.
Two persons identified as Jamideb Bag from Nuapada and Ashish Agrawal from Ekamra Square, were arrested on charges of smuggling cough syrups. Excise officials also confiscated the pickup van and a motorcycle used in the illicit activity.
