Bhubaneswar: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), today approved three railway projects including Bargarh-Nuapada new railway line and Sardega-Bhalumunda double line.
The Bargarh-Nuapada new railway line (138 km) in Odisha got the Cabinet nod, Railway Minister Aswini Vaihsnaw said at a press conference in New Delhi.
The new project will boost rail communication between Bargarh and Nuapada districts of Odisha. The Centre allocated Rs 2,926 crore for the 138 kms line, said Vaishnaw informed.
The new railway line would reduce the distance between Sambalpur and Raipur by approximately 87 km. It will enable access to Odisha Nrusighanath temple. The new project would be helpful in the promotion of Sambalpuri handloom textile products, Railways stated.
Similarly, the new double line between Sardega in Sundargarh district of Odisha and Bhalumuda in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh also got the Union Cabinet nod. The project covering 37 KM line will be implemented at a cost of Rs 1,360 crore, Vaishnaw added.
The Sardega-Bhalumunda line would enable seamless rail connectivity for locals.
The CCEA also gave its nod to Jamshedpur-Purulia-Asansol (Chandil-Anara-Damodar) third line. The project will boost communication between East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand and Purulia and Bardhaman districts of West Bengal.
