Bhubaneswar: The Court of the Additional Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge, POCSO, Bargarh, today convicted Karan @ Karun Bag for forcefully disrobing a minor girl in Attabira in 2021.
The Court sentenced him to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000 for offences under Section 354-B of the IPC and Section 10 of the POCSO Act. Additionally, he was awarded two years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 506 of the IPC.
The Court also directed the District Legal Services Authority to provide a compensation of ₹3 lakh to the victim under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
The case was investigated by Investigating Officer Sushama Pasayat, while Additional Public Prosecutor Dyutish Acharya conducted the prosecution.
Authorities said the conviction reflects the determination of law enforcement and the judiciary in ensuring justice for survivors of crimes against women and children.
