Bargarh: Tension erupted at Burda village under Bheden Police Station (PS) limits here in the district today when the villagers, especially the womenfolk, allegedly obstructed the police personnel from entering the locality and making arrests.
Reports said that the police team was allegedly prevented from entering the village as the villagers, mostly the women, blocked the village entry point by squatting on the road.
Reports also said that a scuffle between the police personnel and the irate locals ensued. While two policemen got stuck up in the melee, others somehow managed to escape.
As tension prevailed, Bargarh SP immediately rushed with four platoons of police forces there in a bid to avert further untoward incident and take stock of the situation.
Though the police evaded media reactions in this incident, about 30 male and female villagers were seen having rounded up and taken to the Bheden PS.
Notably, this is a fall-out of a scuffle and stone-pelting before the Bheden PS on November 17. Even several persons had been injured then and vehicles in the campus were also damaged. Palpable tension has been prevailing in Burda village since long following the murder of one villager named Jitu Naik.
