Bhubaneswar: Baripada in Mayurbhanj district was the hottest city in Odisha with 44.6°C on Sunday followed by Nuapada at 44°C.
According to the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, though the highest maximum temperature (day temperature) in the state was less by a few notches, at least 9 cities recorded maximum temperatures of 43°C or more. At the same time, 30 cities recorded maximum temperatures of 40°C or more.
While Baripada recorded the highest maximum temperature today, Paradip and Gopalpur, both recording 33.5°C) experienced the lowest maximum temperatures. The maximum temperature in the capital city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 41.6°C today.
Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast that the day temperatures are likely to abate from tomorrow and several places in the state are likely to experience moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rain – bringing the much-needed relief to the people.
