Bhubaneswar: As many as 30 places in Odisha today recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or above. As per the IMD data, Baripada recorded the highest maximum temperature 44.5 degrees, which is at least 6.4 degrees C above normal.
Nuapada was the second hottest place in the State at 44.4 degrees, followed by Balangir (44.0). The maximum temperature was above 43 degrees at eight places – Boudh, Talcher, Angul, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Titlagarh and Sundargarh.
At least seven places recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees or above, the IMD’s bulletin stated. These were: Sonepur, Bhubaneswar (42.5), Bhawanipatna, Hirakud, Cuttack (42.2), Dhenkanal and Nayagarh.
The day temperature in Bhubaneswar was 4.6 degrees above the normal while the same was 4.9 degrees above the normal at Cuttack, said the IMD.
