Bhubaneswar: Barring six places in the western part of the State, maximum temperature remained below 40°C across Odisha on Thursday.
According to the evening bulletin of the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here, Nuapada with a maximum day temperature of 41.4°C was the hottest place in the State followed by Sonepur at 40.4°C, Bolangir at 40.2°C, Angul 40.1°C, Jharsuguda 40.1°C and Titilagarh 40°C.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperatures of 35.9°C and 36°C respectively.
Daringbadi was the coolest place in the State with a maximum temperature of 31.5°C.
The IMD has predicted thunderstorm activity with lightning, heavy rain, gusty surface wind and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over the districts of Odisha during the next 4 to 5 days.
