Bhubaneswar: Early morning today, a low pressure has formed over north Andaman sea and neighbourhood. The system lies over north Andaman sea and adjoining east central bay of bengal as on October 9, 8:30 am, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) informed.
The low pressure is likely to intensify into a depression over Central Bay of Bengal by tomorrow morning and further move west northwestwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast on October 12, the IMD further stated.
Under the influence of the low pressure followed by depression, many places in Odisha are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall. The rains will start from Saturday and continue till Wednesday (October 14) morning.
The IMD predicts heavy rains for Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, and Puri on October 11 and 12. Similarly, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kandhamal, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda and Nayagarh will also see rains during this period, the Indian Meteorological Department’s bulletin pointed out.
