Bhubaneswar: The BB Memorial Trust on Saturday organised the “BB Scholars (Educational Scholarship Programme)” at BB Convention in Bhubaneswar, extending financial assistance to meritorious students from economically underprivileged backgrounds across Odisha.
The scholarship ceremony brought together eminent personalities from media, business and social sectors who underscored the importance of education, ethics and social responsibility. The programme was graced by Chief Guest Tathagata Satpathy, Editor of Dharitri and Orissa Post, while Sangram Sarangi, Editor of Argus Digital, attended as Chief Speaker.
Among the Guests of Honour were CA Rajib Sekhar Sahoo, Principal Partner at M/S SRB Associates; Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Chairman of MGM Minerals Ltd.; Prabodh Mohanty, Managing Director of SNM Group; Debendra Suar, Chief Editor of Prameya; and Pritish Chandra Basa, a retired banker and social worker. The event was led by Managing Trustee Anil Kumar Mahalik, whose initiative formed the foundation of the scholarship programme.
During the ceremony, scholarship grants were awarded to 20 students, including 15 pursuing medical education and five enrolled in non-medical disciplines. The beneficiaries hailed from different regions of the state, reflecting the Trust’s commitment to reaching deserving students across Odisha.
In his keynote address, Sangram Sarangi described the initiative as a crucial support system for talented students who face financial barriers in pursuing higher education. He said such efforts not only empower individuals but also strengthen society by nurturing capable professionals.
Chief Guest Tathagata Satpathy delivered an inspiring address rooted in the historical evolution of medicine, urging the medical scholars to uphold ethical standards in their professional journeys. He emphasised that dedication to integrity and service should remain at the core of their careers, especially while serving the people of Odisha.
Echoing similar sentiments, CA Rajib Sekhar Sahoo highlighted the significance of ethical conduct across all professions. He advised students to maintain high moral standards and remain committed to contributing meaningfully to society.
The programme concluded with encouraging words from all distinguished guests, who motivated the scholars to remain focused on their studies and future responsibilities. The BB Scholars initiative, organisers said, will continue to serve as a platform for nurturing academic excellence and ethical leadership among Odisha’s youth.
