Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Monday apprehended an Amin of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Sarbeswar Mohanty while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
According to an official press release, Mohanty was nabbed by Vigilance officials while he was demanding and accepting Rs 20,000 as a bribe from a complainant for furnishing a favourable report to facilitate the sale of his house which was approved by BDA.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused Mohanty and seized, the release added.
The anti-graft agency has launched simultaneous searches at two locations connected with accused Mohanty from a disproportionate assets angle.
The agency has registered a case against Mohanty at Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station under section 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act of 2018.
Further investigation against accused Mohanty is under progress, the release added.
