Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has launched a detailed survey to demarcate the proposed left parallel road stretching from OERC Square to Patharagadia. The survey, which started on Tuesday, is expected to be completed by Wednesday.
The two-day exercise focuses on enumerating families residing in the Chunukoli slum area who may be impacted by the road project. Acting on the directives of Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, Vice Chairman of BDA, four specialised teams comprising officials from the Revenue Department, Works Department, BDA, and Commissionerate Police are conducting the field survey.
Senior officials including the Additional Commissioner (Estate-II) and Joint Commissioner (Enforcement) of BDA, alongside the Sub-Collector and Tehsildar of Bhubaneswar, are closely monitoring the process to ensure accuracy and transparency.
The left parallel road is a vital infrastructure initiative aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity within the rapidly growing city. The proposed route will extend from the Institute of Mathematics to Ekamra Kanan, passing through key locations such as Patharagadia, Utkal Hospital, and Rail Vihar.
While construction work has commenced on certain sections, land acquisition and encroachment removal remain significant challenges.
This survey is a critical step towards balancing urban development with social responsibility by ensuring affected families are properly identified and rehabilitated in line with urban development policies.
