Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) filed an FIR with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch alleging that 68 acres of government land has been trespassed by land sharks in the state capital.

The BDA asked the EOW to initiate forgery cases against Manas Nayak, Banshidhar Naik, Charan Nayak, and 10 others under relevant Sections of the IPC for allegedly possessing government land in Shampur Mouza on the outskirts of the capital city.

The FIR lodged by BDA’s Additional Land Officer Debraj Sethi on Wednesday alleges that Manas Nayak had executed eight agreements comprising Plot No. 224/97 of holding No. 164 with various third parties and illegally handed over the possession of Plot No. 227 of Khata No. 245 of Shampur Mouza, thereby transferring it the BDA by GA & PG Department of Government of Odisha.

In addition, Charan Nayak executed a deed related to the Plot No. 224/22 of Khata No. 164 in Shampur village. Both of these accused illegally delivered the possession of Plot No. 277 of Khata No. 245 in Shampur Mouza which was transferred to the BDA by the GA & PG Department, the FIR read.

These three persons have been accused of conspiring with others to usurp government land and obtain financial benefits.

The FIR has requested the EOW, “So a criminal case may be initiated U/S 420 of IPC against persons namely Manas Nayak, S/o Late Batsa Nayak of Bankual village, Bagada police limits in Khurdha district; Charan Nayak, S/o Bhaskar Nayak of Shampur village under Bharatpur police limits and Banshidhar Naik, S/o Late Basu Naik of Shampur village under Bharatpur police limits in Bhubaneswar.”
