Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has announced that the controversial Baikuntha Dham Ashram in the Khandagiri area will be demolished on January 17.
The announcement was made through loudspeakers in the vicinity, informing residents about the eviction order.
According to reports, the ashram will be razed due to allegations of it being constructed on government land. The BDA has set a deadline of 12 pm tomorrow (January 17) for the occupants to vacate the premises, after which the structure will be bulldozed.
Earlier this month, the Orissa High Court lifted the interim stay on the eviction after the ashram authorities failed to produce the required documents permitting its construction.
The ashram had also recently been in the news for controversial reasons, including an incident where a child was allegedly worshipped as Lord Vishnu’s ‘Kalki’ avatar.
