Bhubaneswar: If a stranger calls you over phone asking you to give details for update of voter ID, be sure that it’ s fraud call. You may fall to the prey of cyber fraudsters.
Cyber looters are adopting unique strategies to dupe gullible people. The Commissionerate Police cautioned regarding the new method of fraudster.
Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said that cyber looters have adopted new methods to cheat people during election season. They will make fake calls and ask you to update your voter card. Cyber criminals will tell you over phone that if your voter ID is not updated, you cannot vote.
If you get trapped in such call, you bank account may be emptied within seconds.
The DCP advised that if any one receives such call, they should immediately lodge a complaint on ‘Chakshu’ portal. They can also dial ‘1930’ to file the report.
