Puri: Beach police arrested a person, who stabbed a 38-year-old man from Bhadrak district to death at Swargadwar area in Puri following an altercation on Thursday late night.
According to reports, Ranjan Kumar Das, a 38-year-old man from Bhadrak district’s Apanda village, had come to Swargadwar for a relative’s funeral. He got into an altercation with another man over ritual offerings at Chaitanya Square. The situation escalated, and the man stabbed Das, killing him on the spot. Another person, Manas Ranjan Nayak, who was with Das, was also injured and fled the scene.
Police have launched an investigation and sent Das’s body to Puri District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination. The motive behind the attack is still unclear, but police suspect it was a result of a verbal spat between the two.
