Kalahandi: In a horrifying incident, a youth sustained critical injuries after being attacked by two bears in the Jaipatna Forest Range, under the Jaipatna police limits of Kalahandi district, today.
The youth has been identified as Laxman Naik of Pandripakhan village, Uchala Panchayat, Kalahandi.
According to reports, Naik was going to attend to nature’s call at a nearby canal within his village when he was attacked by two wild bears, who were out searching for food.
Naik somehow managed to fight off the bears and escape from them.
On reaching home, he was immediately admitted to the Koksara Government Hospital by his family members, where he received first-hand treatment.
Naik was later shifted to the Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries.
The forest department officials have been informed about the incident by Naik’s family members.
