Bhubaneswar: As the world is fighting against COVID-19, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik have come forward with effective measures to contain the spread of the disease with support of the citizens.
While the Prime Minister on Thursday (March 19) urged the citizens of India to observe Janata Curfew on Sunday (March 22), Odisha Chief Minister today announced to lockdown 40 percent of the State for a week starting from tomorrow (March 22).
Chief Spokesperson of Odisha Government on COVID-19, Subroto Bagchi, giving his clarification on the difference between the Janata Curfew and the lockdown announced in the State said that the former will be observed as scheduled but the lockdown is a step ahead of it.
The Janata Curfew will be observed for a day throughout the country but the lockdown will be observed til March 29 in five districts and eight towns of Odisha. Train, bus and flight services have been cancelled during Janata Curfew but the services will not be affected during lockdown in Odisha.
It is worthwhile to mention that, the Janata Curfew will be observed from 7 AM till 9 PM of March 22. Whereas, 40 percent of Odisha will be lockdowned from 7 AM of March 22 till 9 PM of March 29.
