Beating The Heat, Election Battle In Odisha’s Cuttack Gathers Momentum In Evening Hours

Cuttack: The political leaders in silver city Cuttack have found a creative way to beat the heat during election campaign while several cities across the State are boiling over 40 degrees Celsius. Instead of campaigning extensively during afternoon hours, they have picked the evening time as favorable moment to woo voters. Traversing through narrow lanes of Cuttack with hundreds of supporters loudly chanting victory slogans, OMMCOM NEWS caught up with some of the candidates during their tempest.

BJP MLA candidate from Choudwar Nayan Kishore Mohanty said, “I am visiting door-to-door and I can definitely say that people want ‘Parivartan’ (change).” BJP’s MP candidate for Cuttack Lok Sabha seat Prakash Mishra similarly said, “A new wave of change and return of culture in Cuttack, can only be achieved by BJP under Modi’s leadership. The voters have made up their mind.”

Ruling Biju Janata Dal’s MLA candidate from Cuttack Sadar, Chandrasarathi Behera was talking to the people in Mouza 42 area. He said, “I filed my nomination on April 3 and I have already covered 42 wards here during campaign. The supporters and voters are excited for the elections on April 23. The people love Naveen Patnaik and accordingly you can gauge the results that will come out on May 23.” Besides, BJD MLA candidate from Chowdar Souvic Biswal was also seen offering ‘Sandhya Arati’ (evening prayers and rituals) in a temple before embarking on campaign spree.

Clearly, this election, the candidates hope to take on the challenges of the Indian summer in their own unique way as the biggest festival of democracy cannot wait till the summer to end.
