Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
The accused identified as Abhay Kumar Behera had demanded Rs 60,000 for the release of arrear pay of a group of Assistant Teachers. Rs 15,000 was the first installment of the bribe.
Based on a complaint, Vigilance had laid a trap and caught Behera with the bribe money. The entire bribe amount of Rs 15,000 has been recovered from him and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations associated with Behera in Keonjhar and Jajpur districts from a disproportionate assets angle. Investigation in progress against Behera.
