Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division-I in Berhampur on charges of possessing disproportionate assets significantly exceeding his known sources of income.
The accused has been identified as N. Dillip Kumar Choudhury.
Acting on credible intelligence, Vigilance sleuths carried out simultaneous searches at multiple locations associated with Choudhury and his family members. The raids led to the detection of assets valued at over Rs 4.9 crore, which are reportedly 119% more than his legitimate income.
According to an official release, the following assets were unearthed during the operation:
- A double-storeyed residential building in Mayuree Vihar, Berhampur, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore
- A 3-BHK flat (Flat No. 301) in Evos Exotica Apartment, Saheed Nagar, Bhubaneswar, worth over Rs 1 crore
- A 2-BHK flat (Flat No. 409) in Spectrum Royale, Dharma Nagar, Berhampur, valued at around Rs 50 lakh
- Eleven plots in Berhampur and its adjoining areas, collectively estimated at Rs 2 crore
- Bank and insurance deposits amounting to nearly Rs 30 lakh
- Two two-wheelers and household articles worth over Rs 16 lakh
Choudhury was taken into custody and later produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur. A case (PS Case No. 6 dated 01.06.2025) has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
The Vigilance Department has stated that further investigation is underway to trace additional undisclosed assets and determine the full extent of the alleged financial irregularities.
