Bhubaneswar: On Tuesday, the police arrested Shibashankar Das independent candidate contesting for the Berhampur Assembly seat.
Shibashankar and his supporters were involved in a scuffle with Pradeep Panigrahi, the BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Berhampur in which Pradeep was injured and was admitted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital for initial treatment.
Panigrahi was shifted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar on Tuesday for further treatment procedures.
Addressing the media, Pradeep’s wife Sujata said, “We have come to AIIMS for a check-up, as there was a fracture in the chest as well as some injuries to the neck. She further added these all happened due to fear of losing elections by the opposition. Despite tall claims of CM Naveen Patnaik about non-violence. The violence has reached its peak in Odisha. People will give a befitting response on June 4, she concluded.”
