Berhampur: In a major development in the ongoing Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination scam, the Berhampur JMFC Rural Court on Wednesday rejected the bail pleas of all 119 accused, taking a tough stand on the case.
The Crime Branch, which is leading the probe, has so far arrested 119 individuals in multiple phases — including 114 examinees and 5 middlemen. All of them are currently lodged in jail.
On Wednesday, bail applications were filed on behalf of all accused, but the court dismissed each petition, citing the seriousness of the allegations.
Public Prosecutor Biswajit Baral informed the court’s decision, noting that the rejection underscores the gravity of the offences being investigated.
The SI recruitment scam has triggered widespread public concern over the integrity of competitive examinations in the state. Investigators are working to unravel the larger network suspected of facilitating cheating and manipulation in the recruitment process.
