**Berhampur:** In a tragic road mishap, a two-day-old baby boy and his uncle were killed when the Janani Surakhya Yojana (102) ambulance, they were travelling in, rammed into a stationary oil tanker on the NH-5 near Khalikote Badaghati at around 3 am in the intervening night of Sunday-Monday.
As per reports, the ambulance was on its way to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital from Berhampur MKCG.
The baby’s parents, ambulance driver and his assistant have been seriously injured and hospitalised.
Sources said the baby boy of Laxman and Sakuntala Reddy of Kainchapur village under Ganjam block, was born two days back at Ganjam District Headquarters Hospital.
As his condition was bad, he was admitted to Chhatrapur hospital from where he was shifted to Berhampur-based MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
As the condition of the baby boy further deteriorated, he was referred to SCB.
Police investigation was on while the bodies were seized and sent for autopsy.
The news has sent shocking waves in the district.
