Berhampur: In a bizarre incident, a woman came ‘alive’ at the crematorium after she was presumed dead by her family members in Odisha’s Berhampur on Wednesday.
According to reports, K Rajeshwari, wife of Shivaram Pal and resident of Goods Shed road in Berhampur, sustained burn injuries following an LPG cylinder leak accident at home last month. However, her husband Shivaram Pal did not take her to any hospital but arranged for her treatment at home. In the absence of proper treatment, Rajeswari’s condition deteriorated steadily and when she did not respond to anyone or make any movements on Wednesday, her family members presumed her to be dead.
Instead of obtaining a death certificate from a qualified doctor, the family arranged for Rajeshwari’s funeral with the help of neighbours and the local corporator. To everyone’s surprise, she gained consciousness and sat up at the crematorium. Seeing this, her neighbours rushed her to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
While Rajeshwari is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, the incident has become the talk of the town.
