Bhubaneswar: : In a shocking incident, Bhadrak Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Soubhagya Kumar Sahu suddenly collapsed while on duty at his office in Chandbali on Saturday and later succumbed to the illness.
According to reports, Sahu suddenly fell unconscious while working in his chamber. His colleagues immediately rushed to his assistance and shifted him to a nearby medical centre for emergency treatment. However, despite prompt medical intervention, the senior forest officer could not be saved and passed away during treatment.
Preliminary reports indicate that the officer may have suffered a heart attack. The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the post-mortem examination is completed.
Sahu hailed from Barunadiha village under Rajkanika block in Kendrapara district. He was highly regarded by his colleagues as a sincere, dedicated, and hardworking officer. At the time of his untimely demise, he had only around 11 months of service left before retirement.
His sudden death has plunged the entire forest department into deep grief. Forest officials and staff members expressed profound shock over the loss of a serving senior officer who was actively discharging his duties till the last moment.
Senior forest officials, staff, and people from his native village have extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Many described Sahu as a committed officer who worked tirelessly for the protection and conservation of forests in the Bhadrak division.
