Bhadrak: In a moving act of selflessness, a 39-year-old government homeopathic doctor from Bhadrak district saved lives even in death by donating her liver, with the district police according her a Guard of Honour at her funeral.
The deceased, Radha Padhi, hailed from Sahadevadas Patana village under Bhatpada Panchayat in Chandabali block. She was serving as a government homeopathic doctor at Sabarang Aroda in Bhadrak block for the past three years.
According to reports, Padhi, had been battling a platelet disorder since the age of three and was undergoing continuous treatment. Despite her own prolonged health struggles, she remained committed to her medical duties and continued serving patients.
On March 28, she was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for treatment. She passed away on Friday at the age of 39.
Before her death, Padhi had taken the noble decision to donate her liver, a gesture that helped save the lives of others and earned widespread admiration. Known for her compassion, she had also donated her hair twice during her lifetime to support cancer patients.
In recognition of her exemplary service and humanitarian spirit, the Bhadrak Police accorded her a Guard of Honour during her last rites.
Her funeral was later conducted in her native village, where an atmosphere of deep grief prevailed as locals mourned the loss of a dedicated doctor and a compassionate human being.
Padhi’s life and final act have been hailed as an inspiration, underscoring the enduring impact of organ donation and selfless service to society.
