Bhadrak: Police rescued 17 cattle smuggled in a pick-up van and arrested two persons for the crime in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Thursday. The police also seized the van used for transporting the cattle.
According to reports, acting on a tip-off that cattle were being smuggled in the region, Bhadrak police laid a trap near the Old Bazaar area in the district and intercepted the pick-up van. During inspection, police found that the vehicle was transporting 17 cattle from Bant block in the district.
The condition of the cattle is dire as they are being driven in the pick-van in a deplorable condition. A veterinarian was called and the cattle were treated. After the initial treatment, the rescued cattle have been sent to a local goshala.
