Bhadrak: In a shocking incident, the Bhadrak Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Raut has suspended Sub-Inspector Kartik Jena of Bhadrak Rural police station on charges of dereliction of duty.
Jena allegedly asked a local youth identified as Piyush Ranjan Panda of Dhusuri area in Dhamnagar block to impersonate police and probe a case in Rasikabag village under the Bhadrak Rural police station.
According to reports, Jena had given Panda a police motorcycle to conduct the investigation without personally visiting the scene. However, the villagers suspected something was amiss and detained Panda, later handing him over to the police.
Upon being asked, Additional SP Arup Abhishek Behera said, “Bhadrak SP Manoj Rout swiftly suspended Jena yesterday after learning about the incident and initiated an investigation. Police are now probing Panda’s links with Jena and the circumstances behind the incident. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.”
