Bhubaneswar: There is bad news for bikers those who were moving without a helmet during Bharat bandh in the Odisha capital today, the Twin City Commissionerate Police will be issuing challans against them for violation of traffic rules.
The Commissionerate police will be taking action against them as per provisions of the law on the basis of CCTV footage, revealed Anup Sahoo, Additional Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police here today.
“We are collecting CCTV footage and on the basis of that action will be taken as per law,” informed Sahoo responding to queries by reporters on whether action will be taken against bikers and bike rallyists who were not wearing helmets taking leverage of the situation.
It may be pointed out here that the Commissionerate Police had to issue challans to activists of Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) who had taken out a bike rally without wearing helmets in the Capital as part of the ruling Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD’s) 23rd foundation day celebration on December 26 last year.
The Commissionerate Police’s action had come against the violators after netizens took to Twitter and wondered whether police would initiate any action against the violators.
