Bhubaneswar: Notwithstanding the public outcry over the Bharatpur incident in Bhubaneswar wherein road Romeos harassed an Army Captain and his fiancée last month, a similar incident was reported from Nayapalli in the capital city on Friday night.
According to reports, this time the road Romeos allegedly abused a DIG of the Indian Coast Guard and his wife at a traffic post in Nayapalli last night. On being informed, police responded quickly and detained two persons in connection with the crime.
Satyaranjan Das, a DIG of the Indian Coast Guard, lodged a complaint at the Nayapalli police station that at least two miscreants abused him and his wife in an inebriated state.
As per the complaint, two drunken youths came in front of their car and abused them while the DIG and his wife were waiting at a traffic post in the Nayapalli area to take a U-turn. He alleged that the youths abused his wife and made obscene gestures.
After receiving the complaint Nayapalli police initiated quick action and within no time nabbed the two accused. Police have detained the two drunken youths and are interrogating them.
Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S Devadatta Singh himself came to the Nayapalli police station and had a talk with the Coast Guard DIG. Singh said that the accused persons have been detained and the investigation of the incident is underway.
It is to be noted that on September 15, road Romeos misbehaved with an Army Captain and his fiancée at around 2.00 am on September 15. Later, when the Captain reached Bharatpur police station to lodge a complaint in this connection, police personnel on duty allegedly harassed and assaulted the duo.
