Bhubaneswar: Justice Chittaranjan Das Commission today visited Bharatpur Police station and conducted an investigation into the investigation of police misbehaviour and torture of an Army officer and his fiancée
The Commission also made a spot visit. On this occasion, the Commission questioned the suspended IIC Dinakrishna Mishra and four other suspended police personnel. The major and his fiancée were also deposed before the Commission at the police station.
The Commission recorded the statements of both parties and the opposing party today. Both parties submitted their statements in the presence of Justice Chittaranjan Das. The Commission discussed the incident with both parties and reviewed the affidavits submitted by both parties. Both sides recreated the scene of what happened inside the police station that night and presented it to Justice Das.
“We visited the spot and marked the relevant areas. The Army officer and his fiancée explained what happened on that day. The police officials waited outside during their deposition. A map was prepared based on their statement,” Justice Chittaranjan Das said
Later, the police personnel deposed in the presence of their lawyers, explaining the incident that occurred at the police station, he added.
The Commission has fixed the next hearing on November 26.
