Bhubaneswar: The judicial commission probing the alleged assault of an Army officer and his fiancée at Bharatpur police station last year will submit its report to the government by March 31.
Earlier, the government, while granting an extension, asked the Commission to submit the report by February 28.
The commission managed to examine and cross-examine approximately 10 individuals, including the Army officer and his fiancée. The report will be compiled and on available documentation, testimonies, affidavits, and counter-affidavits.
The judicial commission head by Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash was established by the State government on Sept 22 following nationwide protests over the alleged custodial torture of an army officer and his fiancée.
The commission began proceedings on Oct 1, 2024, after official notification was issued on Sept 26.
