**Bhubaneswar:** Gracing the fourth foundation day of Bhubaneswar All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday, Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Faggan Singh Kulaste said the Odisha unit of AIIMS will be full-fledged by 2017.
Kulaste inaugurated a 30-bedded Cancer Ward and visited all the existing wards and interacted with the patients admitted.
Talking to media, he said the AIIMS branch at Bhubaneswar in the state here is the contribution of former prime minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee in 2003.
Admitting the weak spots in the unit here, especially some more wards, equipment, facilities and above all posting of adequate faculty members, the Minister informed that processing has already begun and would be completed in a time-bound manner.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar director Ashok Kumar Mahapatra said that the minister on the day also unveiled a Buddha statute at the campus entrance and planted saplings.
On the nagging problems the Bhubaneswar unit is facing, Mahapatra informed that the minister has asked them to apprise the ministry in writing which would be addressed.
The AIIMS Bhubaneswar director also informed that the minister would review why the operation theatre is yet to be functional besides cancer treatment equipment and installation of oxygen gas pipe here.
