Bhubaneswar: Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) Bhubaneswar has achieved a historic milestone by handling 5.15 million passengers in 2025, the highest ever in its history, airport director Prasanna Pradhan announced on Wednesday.
“This is a proud moment for Odisha. For the first time, Bhubaneswar has crossed the 5.15 million passenger mark. We are now the 13th largest airport in India in terms of passenger traffic. Even with fog-related disruptions for two days, operations continued smoothly under Ministry guidelines,” Pradhan told reporters.
Currently, Bhubaneswar Airport operates flights to 28 domestic and international destinations, making air travel more accessible for people across Odisha. This growing connectivity has contributed significantly to the increase in passenger traffic.
At the national level, Delhi Airport remains the busiest, handling around 70 million passengers annually, while Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai airports continue to dominate the top five.
