Bhubaneswar: Several places in the State continue to grapple with intense heat-wave as four stations touched 40 degrees C and above temperature by 11.30 AM on Thursday.
Weather scientist Umashankar Das informed through his ‘X’ handle that Bhubaneswar and Balasore emerged as the hottest places in the State by 11.30 AM with the mercury touching 40.6 degrees C. Similarly, Chandbali and Jharsuguda recorded 40 degrees C each by this time.
Mercury level in other places came close to 40 degrees C. Sambalpur sizzled at 39.7 degrees C followed by Keonjhar which witnessed 39 degrees C by 11.30 AM.
Hirakud recorded 38.6, Rourkela 37.9, Gopalpur 35.1 by the same time.
Puri and Paradip recorded 34.5 degrees C each by 11.30 AM.
The weather agency earlier forecasted the temperature to rise by 2.3 degrees C more in next two days.
