Bhubaneswar: In a poignant and powerful display of generosity, a one-year-old boy from Bhubaneswar has become immortal by donating his organs after being declared brain dead.

As per reports, 10-year-old Janmesh Lenka suffered a brainstroke due to unconsolable crying and was subsequently hospitalized. He was soon declared brain dead. Despite prolonged efforts, doctors were unable to save him.

For Janmesh’s family, the decision to donate his organs was not an easy one. However, they found solace in knowing that their beloved child’s legacy would live on through the lives he touched.

“We were devastated by the loss of our child, but we thought that we had to do something to keep him alive in our memory,” said Janmesh’s father, who works at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar.

The last rites of the deceased were performed at Jagamara in Bhubaneswar. The state government conferred a Guard of Honour upon him.

It is learnt that Janmesh’s liver found a new home in a child in Delhi, while his kidney was donated to a child in Bhubaneswar. This selfless act has not only saved two lives but has also inspired a community to consider the profound impact of organ donation.
