Bhubaneswar: Contract Killers Hired To Murder Sweet Stall Owner

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police cracked the infamous murder of sweet stall owner of Samantarapur under Lingaraj Police Station limits on September 4.

Briefing the media today, Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said that contract killers Sritika Biswal and Ashutosh Mohanty were hired to kill Jambu Sahu. Prime accused Raja Behera had hired them for a sum of Rs 50,000. While Rs 10,000 was given as an advance amount, Raja had promised to pay rest of Rs 40,000 and also bear lawyer charges.

Clearing the speculations, Sarangi said that the murder was over professional rivalry. Including the contract killers, a total of eight people have so far been arrested in this matter.

On September 4, Sritika chased and hacked Sambhu to death while the other accused Asutosh was riding the bike which they used to escape. The broad daylight murder had caused palpable panic in Samantrapur area of State Capital.

On October 8, prime accused Raja Behera had surrendered. A day later his parents Dillip and Sasmita Behera, grandfather Balaram Behera, Biswajit Barik and Rasmi Ranjan Barik were arrested. Biswajit and Rasmi were arrested for harbouring main accused Raja.

The Police Commissioner added that they are attempting to bring Raja on remand for further interrogation.
