Bhubaneswar: A Police Havildar has been arrested by Mahila Police in Bhubaneswar on charges of performing a second marriage, without even divorcing his first wife.
The accused cop has been identified as Sadasiv Swain, who is posted at Dhauli Police Station in the capital city.
The incident came to light after the second wife identified as Basanti Swain lodged a complaint in this regard at the Mahila Police Station. She further alleged that Sadasiv used to assault and torture her.
Based on the complaint, Sadasiv has been booked under sections 494, 354, and 374 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further probe into the case is underway.
