Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Cyber police have arrested a man for making his wife’s obscene pictures viral on social media platforms.
The accused identified as Saroj Kumar Das was arrested by the Cyber police from a location near Chandbali in Bhadrak district on Monday.
He was booked under sections 383, 420, 498 (A), 509 of IPC and sections 67, 67(A) of the IT Act and has been forwarded to court.
According to the police, Saroj used to work as a plumber in Bhadrak and his wife used to work as a domestic help in Mancheswar area here to augment their family income.
Saroj being a habitual drunkard used to fritter away all that he earned on liquor and also used to often forcibly take away his wife’s earnings.
Over the last few days, Saroj’s wife had stopped giving him money which had led to frequent heated arguments between the two.
Accused Saroj in a fit of rage uploaded pictures and videos of his wife’s intimate moments with him on social media platforms.
A woman neighbour of the victim (Saroj’s wife) informed her after watching the same pictures and videos on social media platforms.
Following the development, the victim lodged a complaint in this connection at the DCP’s office.
Cyber police launched an investigation into the matter leading to the arrest of Saroj from a location near Chandbali on Monday.
The accused was forwarded to court and is now in judicial custody.
